SeriesRaces
Columbia Basin Sailing Club holds a series of races each racing season (spring, summer, and autumn) on Lake Sacajawea, at Charbonneau Park. The races are competitive, but fun, events with variable and often shifting winds that accentuate sailing skills. Depending on the winds, as many as five races can be squeezed into a single day. Racing is scheduled to begin around 10 am, but often is slightly delayed to assemble the boats on the water. Each race has a designated race organizer who is responsible for setting and retriving marks, but often whistle starts get things going. Race results for the 2006 through 2022 racing seasons for the club's series races are posted in links below.
RaceCancellationPolicy
The membership has voted on a policy for race cancellations related to excessive heat. This policy is aimed at preventing heat-related illness which could occur either as we’re sailing or packing up boats in the parking lot later in the day. If the race day temperature forecast for Burbank, WA issued by either the Weather Channel or NOAA is 100F or higher by 3pm or earlier, we will not race. The Race Committee chair may elect to send out an email for information purposes. However, if you don’t receive an email, and the forecast is as described above, please know that the races are cancelled.
